Low-Sodium CAVA: How to Order Under 600 mg

Three bowls under 600 mg, the ingredients that carry most of the sodium, and the swaps that fix it.

Updated September 29, 2026By the BowlMacros teamData: CAVA official nutrition guide

Quick answer

  • A low-sodium CAVA bowl is possible: the builds below run 475–515 mg.
  • Choose Grilled Steak (260 mg) or Braised Lamb (240 mg) over chicken (670 mg) or falafel (810 mg).
  • Rice is surprisingly salty: 770 mg per scoop. Greens have 10–70 mg.

Sodium is the one number that catches most people out at CAVA. Several curated pitas exceed the full 2,300 mg daily value (the FDA's reference amount for adults) on their own. A typical custom bowl (brown rice, grilled chicken, hummus, tzatziki, tomato + cucumber and Greek Vinaigrette) comes to 1,845 mg.

The good news is that the sodium is concentrated in a handful of ingredients, so a few swaps cut it by more than half.
